Australia Raises Skilled Visa Salary Threshold — New Rules Take Effect July 1, 2025
Starting July 1, 2025, Australia will raise the minimum salary requirement for skilled foreign workers from AUD 70,000 to AUD 73,150. This update affects new applicants under visas like the Temporary Skill Shortage (subclass 482). The move aims to protect local wage standards, prevent exploitation, and attract top talent in sectors like healthcare, IT, and construction. Employers must now offer this new minimum to sponsor skilled migrants.

Australia’s Visa Fees Jump Again: Student Applicants Now Face A$2,000 Charge
Australia has increased visa application fees as of July 1, 2025, with the Student Visa (Subclass 500) rising to A$2,000—the highest among English-speaking countries. Other visa categories, including skilled and partner visas, also saw a 3% rise. The move aims to manage migration and fund infrastructure but may deter international students and strain the education sector.
